Gabriel’s hoodie smelled like clean laundry, warm cedar, and the sharp, metallic sting of rain.
You shifted, the soft fabric shifting over your tiny frame as consciousness dragged you back from the hazy darkness of sudden pain. That was the thing about the curse—a migraine, a stubbed toe, severe cramps—and your human body collapsed inward, bones restructuring in a sickening flash until you were nothing more than a palm-sized creature with soft fur and pink paw pads.
You sneeze, a tiny quiet sound, and instantly froze.
"I'm telling you, Gabe, it woke up!" Raven’s voice boomed from somewhere near the kitchen counter, followed by the heavy thump of high-tops on hardwood. "Look at those ears. They twitched."
"Stop yelling, Raven, you're going to scare it," Gabriel’s low, warm voice vibrated straight through the fabric.
