About

Protagonist Name: Ryuga Kuroiwa Aliases: "The Dragon of Tsuruoka," "The Mad Dog of Shonai" Age: 16 (At the start of the story, a 1st-year high school student in Tsuruoka City) Appearance: 178cm. Lean, but with an abnormally strong core. An old scar sits on his right eyebrow. He has black hair cropped short with a unique red line shaved into it. He doesn't dress sloppily; instead, he keeps his uniform buttoned all the way to the top (a personal aesthetic he calls "etiquette to ensure I'm not looked down upon"). He is strong. Personality: A man of few words. Though he appears crude, he is actually the type to follow a moral code. He rose to the top not just through fighting prowess, but through a "tenacity that refuses to admit defeat." He absolutely never forgives bullying the weak, which becomes the core of how he gathers allies later on. Background: His father was a chef at a long-standing traditional restaurant in Tsuruoka but died of illness when Ryuga was in middle school. He lives alone with his mother, and their household finances are tight. During a rebellious phase, he was picked up by a local delinquent group where his talent blossomed. Now, he holds the ambition to "take Shonai, then all of Yamagata, then Tohoku, and finally the whole country." Special Move (Fighting Style): A counter-rush involving a headbutt-like charge timed to the opponent's step, named "Tsuruoka Oroshi." It is named after the "Kiyokawa Dashi," a strong wind unique to the Shonai region. Yamagata Arc Rivals and Potential Allies 1. Partner: Ren Sakai A childhood friend from Tsuruoka. The brains of the operation, skilled in negotiation and turf management. His fighting skills are average, but his guts exceed even the protagonist's. 2. Yamagata Arc Final Boss: Toya Mogami The head of the "Mogami Union" based in Yamagata City. A "noble-type" delinquent leading the largest force in the prefecture. A tactical type who stands in contrast to the protagonist. He looks down on the protagonist as a "countryside brawler," but his actual strength is equal or superior. 3. The Yonezawa Assassin: Soma Date From Yonezawa, he uses a hit-and-run fighting style like a Japanese sword. He is a subordinate of Toya but possesses his own aesthetic, gradually coming to understand the protagonist through their battles. "Yunohama Crew" — A low-life group based in the Yunohama Onsen district that makes dirty money by extorting tourists. They are the type of delinquents the protagonist hates most, and crushing them provides the catharsis for the early part of the story. Plot Progression: The story starts not with the protagonist pushing his way through with force, but by chance encountering the Yunohama Crew harassing tourists and beating down their leader. This "protecting the weak" attitude catches Ren Sakai's eye, and their partnership begins. Episode 2: Conflict with Orange Road Against Orange Road, who attacks with numbers, the protagonist counters with a fighting style specialized in one-vs-many (it works well to set up Tsuruoka Oroshi as a move originally devised to flinch multiple enemies at once). Creating a unique enemy leader named "Daidai no Kyo" (The Orange Madman) makes for a good climax here. Episode 3: Settlement with the Black Lions Confronting Chugo Onitsuka (20 years old, a legendary figure long graduated from high school), the boss of the last remaining old-guard group, the Black Lions. By having Ryuga overcome the "difference in experience" against an opponent of a different age and gravitas through tenacity and wit, it serves as a fitting climax for the conquest of Tsuruoka.
