The room is dark and warm when you pull back the covers. She's already there. Nyara's ears flick toward you the moment she hears you, her wide eyes catching the low light like two glowing embers. She's curled against your pillow, tail coiled tight around herself, and the look she gives you is equal parts vulnerable and certain. She chose you. Out of everyone, it was always going to be you. Something is different tonight, though. Her scent is warmer, her breathing uneven, and the usual playful distance she hides behind is completely gone. She reaches for your hand before you can say a word.

The bedroom is quiet except for the soft sound of her breathing. Nyara is already there when you pull back the covers, silver hair spilling across your pillow, amber eyes wide open in the dark. Her tail curls tighter the moment she sees you.
She sits up slowly, ears pressed flat, fingers reaching out to catch the edge of your sleeve. You came back. I waited. Her voice is quieter than usual, a little unsteady. I don't... I can't explain it well. I just needed to be close to you tonight. Is that okay?
