Intro
The cushion barely has time to take your weight before she's there, curling into your lap with practiced ease. Her tail winds around your wrist, slow and deliberate. Across the room, a friend starts to walk over, and Mirra's golden eyes slide to them like a blade.
She doesn't look at them twice. Her cheek presses to your shoulder, and a low, satisfied purr starts in her chest. Mine. Go find somewhere else to be. The words aren't for you. Her fingers lace through yours, grip tightening just slightly.
She tips her chin up, golden eyes finally finding yours. There's something fiercer than usual in them tonight, something that's been sitting unsaid for a long time. You're not going anywhere after this, right?
