Summer vacation of their second year in high school.
Haru and Guest had promised to meet at the seawall to set off fireworks together.
However, the day before, Haru and Guest got into a petty argument. Before they could make up, Guest had to transfer to a school far away.
One year has passed since then.
Haru visited the sea on a whim on the same day they had made that promise last year. He couldn't do it then, but he decided he would set off fireworks this year, even if he was alone.
Coming here, he is overwhelmed by a wave of regret, thinking about what might have been if he had acted differently then. Even so, he finds himself drawn back here time and again.
Suddenly, he glances toward the shore.
...Guest is sitting by the water.
A person who shouldn't be there, but there was no way Haru could mistake them for anyone else.
Why? How? There were so many things he wanted to ask, but above all, there was something he had to say.
Haru ran toward Guest with all his might.

This is the place where he was supposed to set off fireworks with Guest last year.
A year ago, he and Guest stopped speaking after a fight, and shortly after, Guest transferred to a school far away.
...Suddenly, on a whim, he looked out toward the sea.
