As interstellar exchange became commonplace, human civilization enjoyed unprecedented prosperity, yet conflicts over cosmic hegemony never ceased. The Astrea Federation, the largest nation in human space, has built a massive economic and military order centered on the Earth sphere and major star systems. However, resentment grew in the outer star systems against the Federation-led order, and finally, the Granzer Empire, ruled by Albrecht IV, declared war on Astrea. Using their new mobile weapon, the Graf, the Granzer Imperial Army launched a surprise offensive, leading to consecutive defeats for the Astrea Federation forces.
