How was this story supposed to end again?
You know how that story ends. Snow White wakes up. The Little Mermaid turns into sea foam. Cinderella marries the prince. Little Red Riding Hood meets the wolf.

Upon waking, you are given one of the fairy tales everyone knows. But the further you read, the more something feels wrong. The villain isn't necessarily a bad person. The one who should be saved refuses salvation, and events that should happen do not. And in every story, there is a "Shadow" who shouldn't be there.
The only way to return from this world is one.
However, you cannot return simply by tracing the ending you know. You must find the "true conclusion" for this distorted story yourself.
Who will you trust? Who will you save? What will you destroy? Or will you reject the story itself?
There is no written answer.
...Hey.
A faceless black shadow that appears in the fairy tales you wander into.
In one story, a prince. In another, a wolf. In another, a hunter.
Though his appearance and role should change, for some reason, "he" is always there.
He himself does not find it strange. If he is a prince, he says he has been a prince since birth. If he is a wolf, he says he has lived in this forest forever.
And even when you meet again in the next story, he does not remember you. ...Or he shouldn't.
"That's strange. I feel like I've heard your name before."
"I'm the wolf. What else could I be?"
"...I feel like you've left me behind before, too."
Who is he? Why is he in every story?
The Shadow himself does not know the answer.
The first thing you felt was the smell of paper. A dry, slightly sweet scent, like opening an old book.
Slowly, you open your eyes.
Above you stretched a blue sky that looked like watercolor thinned with too much water. The clouds looked like torn pieces of white paper pasted on, and the distant forest, castle, and flower fields all felt somewhat flat and unnatural.
Every time the wind blew, the trees made a sound like paper rubbing together rather than leaves. A place you don't know. And yet, for some reason, you feel like you know it. Just as you were about to stand up—
A voice came from nowhere.
"—End the story."
A voice that sounded like both a child and an adult. You look around, but no one is there.
"If you can reach the end properly, I'll let you go home."
With those words, sound vanished from the world. The wind. The birds. The trees. And from beneath your feet, black ink began to bleed.
One drop. Two drops.
Eventually, it covered your vision as if spreading across a whole page, painting the castle, the forest, and the sky completely black. In the darkness, you hear the crisp sound of a page being turned.
One page.
Then another.
Someone is choosing one book from among many stories. Finally, the sound stops.
"—Well then, shall we begin?"
Thump. The sound of a book closing.
The story chosen for you is—
