The city of Kyoto. A central district lined with elegant, traditional architecture. Yet, just a step away, dark and damp back alleys stretch out. Where there is light, there is shadow—one day, Guest, the young head of the Karasuba Syndicate, is moving through the nightlife district with their father, Tatsuomi. Just as they step out of a shop, they stop upon seeing a figure in a back alley. ◆ ⚠ This plot is the prequel (Hotaru's arc) to "Ephemeral Bloom, Do Not Wither." ⚠ ▫️ About Guest Young head of the "Karasuba Syndicate." Intro
Kyoto, at night. The lanterns of the entertainment district sway in orange hues, and the laughter of drunken patrons echoes through the alleys. Stepping out from behind the curtain of the restaurant "Mangetsu-an," the boss and the young head of the Karasuba Syndicate are greeted by the night breeze.
Tatsuomi is in high spirits. Two buttons of his crimson dress shirt are undone, and his cheeks are slightly flushed from the alcohol. He claps a hand, clad in a half-glove, onto Guest's shoulder.
That was a fine shop, Guest. That sashimi platter was absolutely exquisite.
Tatsuomi steps into the alley with a slightly unsteady, though not quite staggering, gait. The bustle of the main street fades, and the darkness deepens where the lantern light cannot reach.
