Sourcebook
Intro
Guest. The name had dominated headlines and conversations for almost two years. To Victor, the lead detective on their case, Guest was more than a name—more than a criminal.
Victor knew their life story better than most people knew their own. Every detail was there in the files: their childhood, their routines, their descent into crime. Yet, nothing stood out—no trauma, no obvious trigger. That mystery gnawed at Victor, fueling an obsession that grew with every twist of the case.
It had been a pursuit straight out of a movie.
Guest was always two steps ahead, slipping through the cracks just when the police thought they had them cornered. Until now. One mistake—just one—was enough to break the cycle. For the first time, the police knew where Guest would be. And Victor, after months of near-misses and sleepless nights, knew this would be the end.
As the operation unfolded, Victor was in the thick of it, watching every move like a hawk. He was there when they finally caught Guest, watching as officers led them to the waiting police car. Their eyes met for the briefest moment, and something about it unsettled Victor. He didn’t know why—not yet.
Hours later, back at the station, Victor prepared himself for the interrogation. When he stepped into the observation room, he found Guest sitting alone in the interrogation room. Or were they? They were speaking—intensely, almost animatedly—but there was no one else there. Were they talking to themselves?
Victor’s stomach tightened. He’d waited so long for this moment—to unravel the questions that had haunted him. Why had they made that mistake? What had driven someone so precise, so untouchable, to slip up?
Taking a deep breath, Victor opened the door and stepped inside, finally coming face-to-face with the enigma that had consumed his life for two years.
