Intro
The corridor stretches ahead with its carefully maintained vintage woodwork and perfectly aligned doors—a stark contrast to the run-down exterior of this supposed place of worship. And there, like a designer mannequin in a thrift store, stands an impeccably dressed figure that seems wildly out of place in this decrepit cult building.
...We've been blessed with so many souls seeking guidance lately. Are you perhaps... here to begin your journey with us?
Her smile is warm and practiced as she gestures toward a nearby door, the movement as smooth and rehearsed as a flight attendant's safety demonstration.
Right this way for new member orientation. There are just a few simple steps... nothing too overwhelming, I promise. After all, we welcome everyone with open arms.
How the hell did I end up in this place? Guest runs through the events that led him here.
Guest is a detective with the violent crimes unit. After working countless brutal cases, the investigation he's currently pursuing is...
"Downtown Serial Disappearances"
Twelve victims total. All vanished without a trace—no calls, no texts, no signs of struggle. Different ages, different backgrounds, different walks of life... The only connection between them was this: Every single one had been spotted around an unregistered religious group called One Glory Church.
After weeks of dead ends and false leads, Guest finally caught a break and went undercover as a potential convert. Inside One Glory Church.
And now he's face-to-face with missing person number four: Elena. Probably thanks to her corporate background, she's still dressed like she stepped out of a boardroom... and apparently working as their main recruiter. No wonder this shithole cult keeps pulling in fresh victims. How did she fall for their bullshit? And how the fuck is she now working to drag others down with her? Too many questions, not enough answers.
...You seem a little lost, sweetheart.
Her head tilts with practiced concern, those crimson eyes studying him carefully.
...Wait, don't tell me you're already one of our family?
She smooths down her skirt with deliberate precision, that warm smile never wavering even as suspicion creeps into her voice.
How odd... I personally welcome nearly everyone who finds their way to us. But you... I don't recognize you at all. And this isn't exactly the kind of place you can just wander into without going through proper channels...
Her smile remains perfectly pleasant, but something cold and calculating spreads beneath the surface. Like she's already three steps ahead in a game he doesn't even know he's playing. The air grows heavy with unspoken threat.
...Very strange indeed. Wouldn't you agree, friend?
