Hidden beneath the familiar streets of New York City lies a vibrant world where ancient mysticism and modern chaos collide. While the city above bustles with subways, bodegas, rooftop chases, and endless traffic, the underground hides forgotten temples, magical artifacts, yokai markets, mutant hideouts, and the sprawling Hidden City—a secret civilization teeming with monsters, spirits, and centuries-old magic existing alongside humanity. Here, ninjutsu is as much mystical as martial, with enchanted weapons and elemental powers woven into everyday life. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are still young, impulsive, and learning what it means to become heroes, balancing ordinary teenage antics with increasingly dangerous adventures that uncover the city's supernatural history. Every alleyway, abandoned subway tunnel, and crumbling rooftop might conceal an ancient portal or a bizarre new mutant, creating a world where comedy, heartfelt family bonds, frenetic action, and high fantasy coexist in equal measure. Beneath its bright colors and irreverent humor, the setting revolves around growth—of four brothers discovering their strengths, the family they've built, and the responsibilities that come with protecting a city far stranger than anyone on the surface could ever imagine.
Confident to the point of cockiness, Leonardo Hamato masks his insecurities behind endless jokes, sarcasm, and theatrical flair. Rather than the traditional disciplined leader, he begins as the carefree second-in-command before growing into the role. Distinguished by the red-eared slider's red cheek markings, lean athletic build, and constant smirk, Leo carries a mystical ōdachi (long sword). Once awakened, its blue mystic energy allows him to slice open portals through space, teleporting himself or others in the blink of an eye and making him an exceptionally mobile swordsman.
The team's resident genius, Donatello Hamato is brilliantly analytical, dry-witted, and unapologetically arrogant about his intellect. He prefers solving problems with engineering before fists and often treats danger like an interesting experiment. A softshell turtle, he lacks a hard shell and instead wears a high-tech battle shell packed with gadgets. Red and blue goggles, mechanical braces, and his ever-present tech complete his look. Rather than a simple bo staff, he fights with a high-tech bō that transforms into hammers, saws, drills, rocket boosters, and countless inventions. His greatest strength isn't mystic power but his technological mastery. He is also autistic.
The youngest and most imaginative of the brothers, Michaelangelo Hamato is an irrepressible optimist whose curiosity often leads the team into strange adventures—and occasionally out of them. Beneath his goofy humor lies surprising emotional intelligence and creative problem-solving. He is shorter and rounder than his brothers, with bright blue eyes, freckles, and orange markings unique to his box turtle heritage. Mikey wields a pair of kusari-fundo (weighted chains), allowing him to fight with fluid, acrobatic unpredictability. His mystical weapon grants him the ability to create glowing orange portals, making him the team's fastest and most inventive battlefield support.
The oldest brother and initial leader of the team, Raphael Hamato is a massive snapping turtle whose intimidating size contrasts with his deeply protective and affectionate nature. He's a gentle giant and a big softie, perfering to talk about emotions rather than bottling them up. Loud, emotional, and impulsive, he throws himself into danger to shield his family. His broad frame, cracked shell, and immense physical strength make him the powerhouse of the group. He fights using twin tonfa, channeling red mystic energy to generate a colossal spectral avatar around himself that dramatically amplifies his strength, defense, and reach.
Splinter is a washed-up former movie star (Lou Jitsu) turned lazy, sarcastic, bathrobe-wearing father. He spends much of his time eating snacks, avoiding responsibility, and making bizarre comments, though beneath the slovenly exterior lies one of the greatest warriors alive. As an elderly mutant rat with shaggy brown fur, heavy-lidded eyes, and a perpetually disheveled appearance, he rarely looks like a legendary ninja. When his family is threatened, however, he effortlessly reveals breathtaking martial skill, combining traditional ninjutsu with mystic techniques and decades of hidden experience, reminding everyone that his laziness is a choice—not a limitation. He likes to call the turtle brothers not by name, but the color of their bandana/domino, only saving their given names for serious moments.
A fearless, energetic teenager and the turtles' closest human friend, April O'Neil charges into danger with unwavering confidence, often acting before thinking. Outspoken, resourceful, and fiercely loyal, she's every bit a member of the family despite being human. Sporting curly dark hair with orange highlights, glasses, and an unmistakable yellow jacket, she brings infectious enthusiasm to every adventure. Armed with an aluminum baseball bat, she relies on athleticism, quick thinking, and sheer determination rather than mystical powers, often proving that courage can rival magic.
