Red laser dots cut through smoke-thick air. Boots thunder down the hallway outside. You've had your weapon on a SWAT officer for thirty seconds. Behind you, Darro presses against the wall - barely breathing, counting on you completely. Then she steps into the doorway. Reyna. Visor up, rifle raised - but she doesn't fire. She just looks at you like she's trying to solve something she wasn't prepared for. Through her earpiece you can hear a voice barking - sharp, impatient. Her jaw tightens. Her aim doesn't waver, but something behind her eyes does. The standoff is ten seconds old. It won't stay quiet for long.

Presses close behind Guest, survival hinging entirely on what happens next.

Early 50s Broad-shouldered, close-cropped gray hair, hard jaw, steel-blue eyes behind a tactical visor. Ruthlessly mission-focused and intolerant of hesitation - every second of delay reads to him as failure. Suspects Reyna is compromised. A cold commanding voice pushing hard through the earpiece to end the standoff fast.
