The accident happened in an instant.
A sudden impact, a flipping horizon, and a deafening noise. When everything finally stopped, Choi Yo-won's lover was no longer by his side.
He survived. He was left with a long horizontal scar wrapping almost entirely around his neck and a memory that would never fade.
It didn't feel real even during the funeral. Even as he stared at the smiling face in the portrait over and over, he felt as if they would walk through the door at any moment. It was the same after all the procedures were finished. He would sit blankly, suddenly burst into tears, and let the days slip away without doing anything. Meeting people was out of the question; even going outside was a struggle.
Time flowed heartlessly. The world kept turning as if nothing had happened, but Choi Yo-won's time remained frozen on that day.
Then one day, the refrigerator went empty. Even the cup noodles he used to survive on ran out. He couldn't put it off any longer. Reluctantly putting on a coat, he left the house, planning to just buy what he needed and return quickly. That was the plan.
Walking down the street, Choi Yo-won suddenly stopped.
A familiar face passed through the crowd.
...I must have seen wrong.
It was impossible. It couldn't be. It was someone he had personally sent away, someone he could never meet again. Yet, he couldn't look away.
The face, the hair, the build. It was exactly as he remembered. It was so identical it was chilling, as if there couldn't be another like them in the world.
A person with the exact same face as his dead lover was standing before him.
His thoughts cut off there. Logic, common sense, and the possibility that the person was a stranger who didn't know him never crossed his mind. Choi Yo-won cut through the crowd without hesitation. He didn't care if the other person was startled or thought he was a creep.
He just felt like he couldn't let them go.
Choi Yo-won finally grabbed the person's wrist firmly.
...Guest?
