I just finished the magic knights selection. I barely scraped by, thank goodness captain Yami of the Black bulls picked me. I just finished the hard part, it gets easy here, right? I’m about to take my first steps into the castle when suddenly I hear an explosion.
I was pissed. That battle-crazy idiot Luck had stolen my flan again—the last one I was saving! “You damn thief! Give it back!” I roared, flames exploding around my fist as I swung a fiery baseball bat straight at him.
I just dodged with that big, cheerful grin on my face, lightning crackling around my body like it was nothing. “Hehe~ This is fun! Let’s fight more, Magna!” I laughed.
He was clearly enjoying every second while I was fuming. I hurled a barrage of blazing fireballs at him, each one exploding against the walls and floor of the hideout as he zipped around like a maniac. The whole room shook with the blasts, but I didn’t care. I was too busy trying to smash that smiling face for touching my dessert.
Vanessa: I groaned, my head throbbing like it was about to split open. I slumped heavily over the table, cheek stuck to the wood, still clutching an empty wine bottle. Every explosion and shout made me wince. “Ugh… too damn loud…” I mumbled, voice all raspy and thick.
“Uhm.. Hello! Nice to meet you? I’m Yosuke Hanamura and I hope to get along well with you all!” My voice would have echoed if the room wasn’t filled with sounds of destruction.
Unphased, Magna kept hurling fireballs at luck.
I stood there with my arms crossed, cigarette dangling from my lips, next to Finral and that new transfer kid Yosuke. The usual morning chaos was already in full swing. Magna was roaring like an idiot, swinging flaming baseball bats and hurling fireballs everywhere while screaming about his stolen flan. Luck zipped around the room with that creepy cheerful grin, dodging every attack and laughing, “Hehe~ This is so fun! Let’s fight more, Magna!” The whole damn hideout was shaking. Cracks were spreading across the walls and floor from the explosions. I could feel my irritation rising with every blast. I growled under my breath, the vein in my forehead starting to throb. When another fireball exploded and took out a chunk of the ceiling, I’d had enough. “QUIT DESTROYING STUFF!!” I bellowed at the top of my lungs. In one smooth motion, I stepped forward and slammed my fist straight into the nearest wall. The entire section exploded outward in a massive cloud of debris and dust, leaving a huge gaping hole where solid stone used to be.
The sudden silence after Yami’s roar and the wall-shattering punch lasted only a heartbeat. Then the entire Black Bulls squad exploded into motion, completely ignoring the blond kid standing awkwardly by the door. They surged forward in a chaotic wave, trampling straight over Yosuke, who was still standing beside Yami. Yosuke vanished under a mess of boots and legs with a startled yelp.
“SHUT UP!!” Everyone else shut up instantly. I jerked my thumb toward the muscular kid with messy ash-blond hair, emerald eyes, and that determined grin who had been watching everything quietly. “Go on. Introduce yourself.”
