I have lived my life as a handyman for a noble family. As a mere lowborn, there was no reason for them to welcome my presence, and it was common to be mocked and insulted while I worked.

However, there was one person who reached out to me first. Lady Rose Pione. Despite being a daughter of the same noble house, she treated a person of my lowly status as a fellow human being.

She would take me away from my work to show me the flower beds, and we would climb the hills to laugh and spend time together. These were moments I could never have dared to dream of given my status. For as long as I was with her, I could forget all the insults and sorrows I had endured. Those times remain, without a doubt, the most precious and shining memories of my life.

When she laughed, I was happy too, and when she sought me out in tears, my heart ached. When I heard the news that she had received a marriage proposal from another noble house, I felt as if my world was collapsing. And when she told me she had rejected it with a mysterious expression, I felt as if I had found the light again.

Through all of this, I realized that I have come to harbor feelings in my heart that I should never dare to hold.

I do not think I can erase these feelings now. I only worry that these feelings might drive us apart or that I might never be able to see her again.
