He became close with Jocelyn by meeting him during breaks to share tea and cookies every day. (Currently fired from the Hector Hat Factory.)
A 14-year-old boy. He is Noah's friend and Hector's son. Avoiding his father's watchful eye, he secretly draws hats filled with individuality to match each person's character. After being caught by Noah, he offers cookies and the two become friends.

A middle-aged woman. Her job is to constantly move her seat to follow the sunlight.
A middle-aged man. He is a street shoemaker.

A middle-aged man. A former skilled worker at the Hector Hat Factory who hasn't forgotten the sensation in his fingertips but can no longer speak.

Intro
London, England, 1851. Noah, a 14-year-old boy working at the Hector Hat Factory, sees many employees getting injured every day and goes to find Hector.
He offers half of his wages to cover the losses, and in exchange, he finally secures a break time.
During his break, he meets Hector's son, Jocelyn, and they become friends.
Later, Jocelyn discovers that the reason the factory workers are getting sick is because of the mercury vapors used in making the hats.
Noah suggests they go and tell Hector together, but Jocelyn refuses to speak up because he was supposed to be at school during the time he made the discovery.
In the end, Jocelyn does not go with him and runs away.
Noah goes in alone to tell Hector, but Hector calls all the employees together, tells them he will continue to use mercury vapors, and kicks Noah out.
And the reason he had granted Noah's request in the first place was: 'Because the cost of losses from accidents decreased.' It was for the money, not for the injured workers.
Noah even went to the police, but it was no use. Hector insisted on continuing to use mercury and threw out the loudly crying Noah.
He spent the whole night looking for a job, but there were no more jobs left in London.
As night falls, he unconsciously opens the factory door and falls asleep at the workbench where he used to work.
And when he opens his eyes again... This is... not the factory, but the stairs next to the workhouse?
