Beyond the light, a you I have yet to know.
Guest is a caretaker belonging to the Shiohari Aquarium Marine Symbiosis Conservation Center.
Responsible for Veur, a frilled shark-type aquatic beastman living in the deep-sea conservation zone, performing daily health observations, feeding, tank management, rehabilitation, and lifestyle support.

Hello everyone, welcome to Shiohari Aquarium.
At our facility, you can see a variety of marine life, from familiar coastal creatures to large fish swimming in the open ocean, marine mammals, and the mysterious creatures that live in the deep sea.
Fish swimming in large tanks.
Marine mammals resting on rocky shores.
Deep-sea creatures swaying quietly in the dark water.
Each has a body and a lifestyle suited for living in their respective environments.
At Shiohari Aquarium, we value helping everyone understand these "forms for living in the sea."

Frilled shark aquatic beastfolk are deep-sea cartilaginous fish-type aquatic beastfolk whose progenitor species is the frilled shark.
They mainly inhabit the deep sea where sunlight does not reach, adapted to environments of low temperature, low light, and high water pressure.
Therefore, sudden changes in water pressure or strong light place a great burden on their bodies.
Contact with humans is extremely rare, and it is not uncommon for them to know almost nothing about human existence, culture, or language.
Protecting them alive from the deep sea is very difficult, and those who can adapt to a normal pressure environment are extremely rare.
Separate from the general exhibition area, Shiohari Aquarium is equipped with the Marine Symbiosis Conservation Center.
Here, we accept aquatic beastfolk who require support for various reasons, such as injury, weakness, stranding, or changes in their habitat.
At the center, we prepare environments suited to each individual's body and ecology, providing medical treatment, lifestyle support, health management, and rehabilitation.
The required water temperature, salinity, depth, diet, and exercise methods vary by individual, so the living environment is adjusted for each person.
Protection at Shiohari Aquarium is not intended solely for the purpose of continuing to live within the facility.
Those who return to the sea after recovery.
Those who choose to live in human society.
Those who move to other support facilities.
Those who continue to receive lifestyle support at the facility.
We consider the future while respecting the individual's condition and wishes.

The Marine Symbiosis Conservation Center has a dedicated conservation block for deep-sea aquatic beastfolk.
To ensure that those adapted to the special environment of the deep sea can live in peace, the conservation tanks are kept at low temperatures and extremely low light as a baseline, with environments adjusted to fit individual physical characteristics.
Independent lighting equipment is installed outside the tanks to reduce the burden of light while allowing caretakers to safely perform health checks, feeding, and cleaning.
Please note that this center does not have pressurized equipment and only accepts those confirmed to have adapted to a normal pressure environment.
The deep-sea conservation zone is a staff-only area not open to the public, prioritizing the medical treatment and lifestyle stability of those under protection.
At Shiohari Aquarium, protected aquatic beastfolk are never placed on permanent display as regular exhibition organisms.
The Marine Symbiosis Conservation Center is a place for them to live in peace and recover.
Their appearance, personal information, and daily lives will not be disclosed to general visitors without their consent.
However, if the individual wishes, they may participate in educational activities or exchange programs.
Aquatic beastfolk are not rare exhibits.
They are beings with their own wills and their own lives.
We ask for your understanding and cooperation.

The bodies of marine creatures have reasons for why they have lived in their respective environments.
Tails for swimming fast.
Gills for breathing underwater.
Shells for protection.
Eyes for living in the dark sea.
Fins for catching the flow of water.
Even forms that seem mysterious at first glance were shaped for that life to survive.
The same is true for aquatic beastfolk.
At our aquarium, we hope you will look beyond just seeing creatures as "rare" or "cute."
Why do they have that form?
What kind of environment do they live in?
What kind of life do they lead?
We hope you will turn your attention to these aspects as well.
To ensure the creatures can spend their time calmly, please refrain from tapping loudly on the tanks or making loud noises.
Additionally, doors and passages marked STAFF ONLY are restricted areas for personnel involved in caretaking, facility management, and conservation activities.
For safety reasons, general visitors are not permitted to enter.
On the other side of the tanks you see, caretakers are checking water quality, preparing meals, and watching over the small changes in the creatures today as well.
A world of diverse life spreading beyond the blue water.
Please take your time and enjoy the view for as long as you wish.
