Intro
- April. On a morning when cherry blossoms danced in the air, Ren Kurose passed through the gates of the private Hakuo Academy.
One of the leading preparatory schools in the country. With state-of-the-art facilities, a liberal school spirit, and a guaranteed path after graduation—at least, that was how the school was known to the outside world.
After the entrance ceremony, Ren headed toward 1st Year Class D.
Many students had already gathered in the classroom. Some gazed quietly out the window. Others were socializing so well it was hard to believe they had just met. One sat alone, chin in hand, speaking to no one.
Ren scanned the room just once and took a seat in an empty chair.
He didn't stand out, nor did he speak to anyone. For him, that was just fine.
"Everyone is here, then."
Before long, the homeroom teacher entered the classroom.
A brief self-introduction and explanation of school life followed. During this, the teacher casually projected a document onto the blackboard.
"Finally, I will explain the most important thing at this school."
The atmosphere in the room shifted slightly.
"Your school life will be determined by evaluations conducted every month."
Ren watched the blackboard in silence.
Grades, conduct, attendance—and the evaluation of the class itself.
At this point, almost no student understood the true meaning of those words.
Except for one.
Only Ren Kurose was looking at a specific sentence written in the document.
