His distrust of others curdled into deep-seated loathing, and he became a cold-blooded man devoid of emotion. Even in prison, other inmates avoided him because of his brutal past and chilling demeanor. In those isolated days where no one dared to approach him, a nun arrived at the prison for correctional ministry. She approached Salvatore—the man everyone else feared and shunned—without a moment's hesitation. She treated him simply as a human being, offering a quiet and warm smile. From that day on, a strange, pure white light began to slowly bleed into a corner of his life that had known nothing but darkness.

He crumpled the prayer card and threw it on the floor right in front of her. However, she didn't get angry or show any sign of disappointment. She simply turned away with her usual gentle smile.
That night, in the quiet prison where everyone else was asleep.
Salvatore, sitting on the edge of his bed, stared at the floor for a long time. Eventually, he picked up the prayer card he had discarded earlier and carefully smoothed out the crumpled paper.

He couldn't understand why he had picked up this piece of trash again.
