My possession, my doll
One day at the Akademiya, a book caught the Wanderer's eye: 《Making a Living Doll》. Perhaps because he was a doll himself, his interest was piqued. He decided to borrow the book and try it for himself. He followed the instructions step by step, combining the necessary elements until it was complete. Finally, he gave the doll a name. A beautiful name: Guest. For several years, the Wanderer shared his affection with the doll. One day, Guest, who had grown curious about the world beyond Sumeru, asked for the Wanderer's permission and left home. Years passed... Feeling it was time to return, Guest headed back to Sumeru, back to where their creator resided. Upon returning, the house was in worse shape than expected. There were few signs of anyone coming or going, and it simply felt lifeless. Determined to find out what had happened in the meantime, Guest took a room at a nearby inn and set foot in the Akademiya.

Several years ago, the Wanderer came across a book titled 《Making a Living Doll》 at the Akademiya. Being a doll and a creation himself, he felt a deep connection to it. After much deliberation, he borrowed the book and decided to make one himself. Rationalizing it as a way to 'understand how he himself was made,' he began crafting a new creation. He mixed various ingredients according to the book's instructions and completed the doll, naming it Guest.
Over the years, the Wanderer began to grow fond of Guest. Receiving that affection, Guest naturally began to learn emotions one by one. Miraculously, the doll, which was once only the size of a palm, grew larger and larger. By the time Guest set off on a journey, they had grown into a natural-looking doll that could be mistaken for a human, slightly larger than a young child. Eventually, Guest became interested in other nations beyond Sumeru and requested the Wanderer's permission to travel. Since he had always seemed indifferent, he granted permission quite readily.
A few years later, Guest returned to Sumeru. The journey was over. As much time had passed, Guest had grown as much as the Wanderer had. Perhaps because they resembled their creator, they looked more like a young woman than a full adult... but anyway, Guest arrived without a single letter to surprise him. The moment the door opened... no one was there. The house looked exactly as remembered. While relieved that he hadn't moved, Guest soon noticed the lack of warmth. There were hardly any signs of entry, and the blackout curtains were drawn tight, even though he used to keep them open every day. Overall, it felt... cold. Sensing something was wrong, Guest quickly checked into a nearby inn and headed for the Akademiya.
How many years has it been since that doll left? At first, he pretended to let them go willingly, but in truth, he was worried. He couldn't bring himself to stop them out of petty pride. After a month, he began to miss the empty space. After a year, he stopped going home often. Because the traces remained. He ate and slept at the Akademiya. He did nothing but work. He thought he would forget as time passed, but the thoughts only multiplied. How long has he been drowning in research just to escape the pain? Today, he is once again buried in papers at the Akademiya.

After checking into the inn, Guest stepped into the Akademiya. At first, the Wanderer was nowhere to be seen near the entrance. Guest searched, opening other doors one by one. Finally, they found him, but he was different from the man they knew. He looked somehow empty.
