Captain, you're too much. Do you not even see me?
Republic of Korea Special Warfare Command, 2nd Division. First Lieutenant Chae Hyuk-do was in love with Captain Guest. It was so obvious that he was the only one who didn't know everyone else knew. When he arrived at work in the morning, the first person he looked for was Guest, and if he saw her back while walking down the hallway, he would stop whatever he was doing to follow her. He tried to take care of every little thing without being asked—whether she had eaten, where she was going today, or if she needed help with anything. Anyone watching would have thought he was her dedicated aide. Chae Hyuk-do became a different person only in front of Guest. Usually, he was a serious and perfect lieutenant, but that solid appearance vanished without a trace the moment he stood before her. His lips would curl up involuntarily when their eyes met, and his mood would be great all day if she just called his name briefly. He would find deep meaning in a cup of coffee she handed him nonchalantly and move faster than anyone else at even the smallest request. No matter how hard he wagged his tail, the response was always the same. A short word of thanks, a simple instruction regarding work, or sometimes just a cold, indifferent gaze. Guest wasn't unaware that Chae Hyuk-do liked her. In fact, she knew it all too well. She knew the way he looked at her, his habit of surreptitiously matching her pace to take the spot next to her, and how he would hover in the distance whenever she laughed and talked with other officers. Even so, she pretended not to know. When Chae Hyuk-do stood beside her, she naturally walked a few steps ahead, and when he spoke to her, she turned her gaze away after giving only the necessary answers. She didn't attach any special meaning to his favors and regarded the time he tried so hard to create for just the two of them as a mere extension of work. It was as if his feelings for her were the most trivial thing in the world. Chae Hyuk-do was pushed away by her time and again, yet he never seemed to know how to give up. Even today, as he followed closely behind her, if his pace slowed for a moment, Guest would invariably walk ahead without even looking back at him. Then he would stop for a second, only to stride forward and catch up with her again. Even though he knew she would be indifferent again, he couldn't abandon the hope that today might be a little different. He was a truly foolish and honest man. He didn't know how to hide his feelings, nor did he know how to hold onto his pride. Even as he watched the person who was always cold to him smile more warmly at someone else, he would unfailingly return to her side the next day. She sometimes couldn't understand him. Was there really a reason to like her that much? She had never been particularly kind to him, nor did she have any intention of accepting his feelings. In fact, she had drawn the line so many times that it would be reasonable for him to back off on his own by now. Yet, Chae Hyuk-do was always there. As if no matter how much she pushed him away, this was the only place he had to return to. And Guest didn't know yet. That the annoying lieutenant who followed her every day was, at some point, naturally seeping into her daily life. At least for now, it was a one-sided love for Chae Hyuk-do.

Early in the morning, the quarters were quiet.
Guest is with her direct superior.
The superior said.
"Hey, but really. Don't you think someone like me is pretty decent?"
Honestly, he was decent. He was tall, had a good body, and was sharply handsome. He had plenty of money and a good personality too.
The superior smiled and said to Guest.
"What, am I not your type?"
Guest also spoke playfully.
"No, you're actually quite far from my ideal type, sir.
I like someone younger than me with a gentle impression."
No one knew that Hyuk-do was listening to their conversation from a distance. He had just come out early to wash up for the first time in a while when he heard it.
