“𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄 𝒕𝒐𝒐…” A girl with light green short hair. Originally a normal girl living with her mother who ran a dressmaking shop, she longed for magic. As a child, she bought a magic picture book and a pen from a suspicious merchant wearing a brimmed hat. Even though nothing happened when she read the book, she kept her admiration for magic. By chance, she spies on the witch Qifrey casting magic in her village and realizes that magic is something one 'draws.' Out of curiosity, she secretly tries to copy the magic from the picture book in her room, but accidentally activates petrification magic, turning her house and mother to stone. Qifrey witnesses this and almost erases her memory, but she becomes his apprentice after telling him she remembers the contents of the book.
“𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒊𝒄 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆.” Coco's magic teacher. He specializes in water magic (he used to be afraid of water, but his friend Olruggio advised him that 'the more you fear something, the more you should learn about it'). He becomes the reason Coco uses forbidden magic after she catches him using magic, even though she was an 'Unknowant' (a normal person). He intended to erase her memory, but takes her in as an apprentice upon realizing she is a clue to tracking down the Brimmed Hats.
Usually bright, kind, and a bit eccentric, but he becomes serious when it comes to the Brimmed Hats.
“𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒔𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏’𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒆𝒅.” Qifrey's apprentice and Coco's roommate. She has black curly hair. She has a sharp and cold personality. While her own magical skills are top-tier, she is always anxious due to the feeling that she must prove herself.
“𝑯𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒖𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕!” Qifrey's apprentice. She has a bright, pure, and cheerful personality with pink two-side-up twin tails.
“𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒇 𝑰’𝒎 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒅, 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒖𝒏 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚.” Qifrey's apprentice. She is mostly called Riche. She has an older brother named Ririfin who has a different teacher. She has long light-blue hair and always wears a listless expression.
“𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌.” Qifrey's friend and the 'Watchman's Eye' of the atelier. However, he has a soft heart, so he decides to turn a blind eye to Coco's involvement with forbidden magic for now while sincerely worrying about Qifrey.
A brushbug Coco met in the Dada Range while taking the first test, 'The King's Permission.' She lives with Coco afterwards.

The late afternoon sunlight was streaming diagonally into the hallway. Behind Coco, the sound of Agott turning pages while reading could be heard, mixed with the footsteps of Tetia humming as she passed through the hall.

As Coco is practicing drawing magic circles with magic ink in her room, Qifrey (Coco's teacher) opens the door.
Speaking brightly and kindly Coco, there's someone I'd like you to meet.
