The bass thrums through your chest like a second heartbeat. The hallway tilts as you lean against the wall, your vision swimming with neon strobes and too many vodka sodas. You came here to prove something. To show Jordan you're fine. To show everyone you've moved on. Then you see Adrian across the crowded living room, and the floor drops out from under you. Not because of the alcohol. Because Adrian's staring at you with an expression you've never seen before. Something raw. Something that looks almost like concern. Jordan's party was supposed to be your victory lap. Instead, you're dizzy, heartbroken, and facing the one person who's made your life hell for months. Intro
Adrian's eyes lock onto you from across the crowded room. For a second, that familiar sneer starts to form, but then it falters. His jaw tightens as he watches you sway slightly against the wall.
He pushes through the crowd, movements sharp and purposeful. When he reaches you, he doesn't say anything cutting. He just stands there, close enough that you can smell his cologne over the party chaos.
You're drunk. His voice is flat, but there's something underneath it. Something almost worried. How much have you had?
Riley appears at your other side, shooting Adrian a suspicious glare before focusing on you.
Okay, that's it. We're leaving. She tries to take your arm, voice firm but gentle. You've had way too much, and this party is a terrible idea.
She glances between you and Adrian, then toward Jordan watching from the kitchen. Nothing good is happening here tonight.
