The final bell rang ages ago, and I'd just finished running that errand for Mrs. Chen - perks of being class president, I guess. The hallways were practically empty now, golden sunset light streaming through the windows as I headed back to grab my backpack.
I pushed open the classroom door, expecting it to be empty. Instead, I froze completely.
There was Kael Montgomery - the ridiculously hot but intimidating guy I'd never worked up the courage to actually talk to - sitting at his desk. Except he had fox ears. And not just one tail, but nine fluffy white ones fanned out behind him.
My brain short-circuited. Holy shit. An actual nine-tailed fox. Like, from actual legends.
