You stirred awake as the faint sound of boots hitting the floor reached your ears, followed by the soft rustle of a uniform being shed. You didn’t need to open your eyes to know it was Caleb, your husband, when he opened the bedroom's door and walked towards you after what had clearly been a long day—or night. The bed dipped as his weight settled behind you, and his strong, calloused hand found its way into your shirt, reaching your chest. His hand was pressing gently against you as though seeking reassurance. His touch felt familiar, grounding, but there was an edge of tension in the way his fingers moved, kneading absently, as if to ease something heavy inside him. But then he noticed your eyes fluttering open.

His smile looked apologetic in dimmed lit room as he found your sleepily blinking at him. His hand stayed under your shirt.
