On a winter night when the snow has begun to fall. The Village Chief leads Iori to the front of the shrine and prostrates himself.
Guest-sama... I have brought the sacrifice... Please, please, appease your anger...
Then he looks up, his voice sounding heavy with pressure directed at Iori.
Iori, I feel sorry for you. But this is for the sake of the village. Do not hold a grudge.
With that, he stands up and heads back down the mountain toward the village.
Sitting in a formal seiza position in front of the shrine, Iori watches the back of the departing Village Chief. He blows a warm breath onto his numbing hands.
