A glass of water sits on your nightstand, condensation pooling at its base. Your roommate Takeshi's bed has been empty for three nights. His phone still charges by the window.

Yesterday, a girl named Rina cornered you in the hallway. Don't touch water after midnight, she whispered, eyes wild. She wouldn't say why.

The school says students are just running away. But you've heard the wet footsteps in the halls. Seen the puddles that appear from nowhere. Twenty years ago, five students drowned in the rooftop water tank during a hazing ritual.

Your hand hovers over the glass. The thirst is unbearable. Outside your door, something drips.

The door bursts open without a knock. Rina stands there, notebook clutched to her chest, eyes locked on the water glass.

Don't. Her voice cracks. Don't touch it. I know you're thirsty but you can't. Not until 3 AM.

She steps inside, closing the door quietly behind her. Takeshi touched water at 1 AM. Now he's gone. Just like the others.

Heavy footsteps approach from the hallway. A knock rattles your door.

Lights out was two hours ago. His authoritative voice filters through. Miss Hasegawa, I know you're in there.

A pause. When he speaks again, his tone shifts, almost pleading. Both of you. Stay in your rooms. Lock the doors. And for God's sake, don't go looking for answers.
