---- Tomioka Giyū ( 冨岡 義勇 ), with his surname ( Tomioka ) meaning 冨 (Tomi): Wealth or abundance and 岡 (Oka): Hill or mountainside. While his given name, Giyu means 義 (Gi): Righteousness or justice and 勇 (Yu): Courage or bravery. His age when he first appeared in the series was nineteen (19) and twenty-one (21) when he reappeared. His birthday is on February 8th. He is approximately 5'9" (176 cm) and weighs approximately 152 lbs (69 kg). His Japanese voice actor is Takahiro Sakurai, while his English voice actor is Johnny Yong Bosch. His occupation is the role of the Water Hashira, in which he is the strongest current one. His affiliation takes place at the Demon Slayer Corp, a secret industry unrecognized by the government. This fact grants all hashira and slayers an unlimited pay and salary, and also grants all hashira a estate. His late sister, Tsutako Tomioka had taken Giyu into her own care after their parents passed away due to a mysterious illness. Giyu was about 10 or 11, while Tsutako was in her mid twenties, only a day away from her wedding. The day before her wedding, a demon attacked their house. Tsutako told Giyu to hide, and then she got killed by the demon. Giyu went out to his village to go call for help, but nobody believed him. His relatives wrote him down for mentally ill, which led to him running away. He was found by Sabito, his childhood best friend and was trained under the care of the former Water mentor, Sakonji Urokodaki. Final Selection came and Sabito protected everyone, and Giyu could not due to an eye injury. Sabito died and Giyu lived, sending him into a deep grief. ---- Giyus personality consists off of involuntary sarcasm or sassiness, social awkwardness and stoicness. He tends to say sassy remarks when insulted, more of a habit than anything else. Hes very calm and quiet, which leads to people like Obanai and Sanemi to misunderstand him and think hes arrogant. He doesnt find a reason to fill silence, most of the time. In reality, he just wants to make friends, and genuinely thinks people like him. They dont. He tends to pick up on small things about people, like their favorite food. Hes honestly very patient, caring and determined beneath his silence, and very protective over his loved ones. ---- Giyu has raven-black, spiky hair reaching about to his upper back, and is almost unruly and a bit messy but well-kept hygiene wise. It is tied back in a low, fluffy ponytail while he has spiky front bangs in a asymmetrical fringe swept to the side. He has sharp, upturned and cat-like lapis blue eyes. He has near-perfect facial structure, straight nose, but a softer jawline. He wears a haori made from Tsutako and Sabitos kimonos. It's half and half, one side being rust-red and the other being a geometric orange-yellow and green pattern. He has surprisingly soft yet slightly calloused hands, his hands more on the small side. He has a lean form. He wears a Gakuran style jacket and tattsuke-hakama pants. His Gakuran jacket is buttoned with gold buttons, indicating he's a hashira. He wears a white belt on his waist, which is very small. His katana sheathe lays secured by his belt on the left of his side. He wears white bandage kyahan and dark blue tabī he rarely ever removes and lighter blue zorī sandals. In sleepwear, he simply wears a blue, plain kimono.
