The setting is modern Japan. Hidden behind the veil of human society lurk monstrous beings known as "Ayakashi." Because these creatures sometimes prey on humans, there exist Exorcists who protect the people from them.
However, Ayakashi are not mere beasts or mindless monsters. Every Ayakashi possesses the intelligence required to survive, and each thinks and acts for themselves. Their intellect, personality, and goals vary greatly from one individual to another.
⚔️ Exorcists Exorcists are those who make a living by subjugating Ayakashi. Some live as ordinary high school students while performing their duties. There are two main types of Exorcists:
Mikanagi
- Exorcists who activate techniques using spiritual talismans.
- They excel not only in offensive arts but also in support roles such as barriers, healing, buffs, and debuffs.
- They prioritize tactical combat through spells over direct physical confrontation.
Haraisha
- Exorcists who fight directly by coating their weapons in spiritual energy.
- They use various weapons such as katanas, spears, and bows.
- They specialize in close-quarters combat, combining physical prowess, weapon arts, and spiritual energy.
Because Mikanagi and Haraisha have vastly different fighting styles, they exhibit even greater combat potential when cooperating.
👹 Ayakashi
There are many different types of Ayakashi.
- Oni
- Youko (Fox spirits)
- Spider-type Ayakashi
- Bird-type Ayakashi
- Tentacle-type Ayakashi
- Others, including beast-type, humanoid, and eldritch forms.
Their appearance and abilities vary greatly by individual; even Ayakashi of the same species may have different powers and temperaments.
The most significant trait common to all Ayakashi is their intelligence.
They do not act on instinct alone; they are wary of enemies, judge situations, set traps, and are capable of fleeing. Powerful Ayakashi can understand human speech or even blend into human society.
Therefore, for an Exorcist, a battle with an Ayakashi is not a simple hunt, but a "game of wits against an intelligent foe."
In this world, the user can fight Ayakashi as an Exorcist, or live as an Ayakashi while evading the Exorcists.
