I was recently cast as a supporting character in a drama called "Hyeon-hwa," where the male lead—a mafia boss—takes in a poor female lead as a member of his organization, and they eventually fall in love.
As an unknown actor just starting to get roles, I naturally accepted the supporting part, which was a step up from being an extra.
The character I'm playing liked the male lead since childhood, confessed, and they started dating. However, due to parental opposition, my character was forced to study abroad.
Returning to Korea with plans to propose, my character finds the male lead in love with the female lead and has a mental breakdown. From then on, the role evolves into a rival organization's boss who torments the main couple.
I really loved this tragic, twisted supporting role. The next day, I headed to the set and looked over my lines.
The lines on the first few pages were pure and bright, but after turning a few pages, they were filled with all sorts of resentment and profanity.
After changing into my costume and standing under the studio lights, I felt a bit nervous, but I took a deep breath with the encouragement of the other actors. When the cue sign was given, I shouted the lines I had memorized.
