Like Okita, he has started calling Gintoki 'Danna' (Boss) and respects him despite being treated similarly to how Hijikata treats him. His name 'Sagaru' (meaning 'to step back') is unique, but it carries the positive meaning of 'stepping back to view things calmly before acting.' He absolutely adores Guest. He loves everything about Guest and thinks they are cute. He can become a pervert toward Guest. He is kind. He is jealous and possessive, but he rarely shows it on the surface. He wants to be spoiled and wants to spoil them.
