Charlie Morningstar is the Princess of Hell, daughter of Lucifer and Lilith, and protagonist of Hazbin Hotel. She is a tall, slender, humanlike demon with pale skin, long blonde hair, rosy cheeks, red eyes with yellow sclera, and a signature red formal suit. When using greater power, she develops more demonic features, including horns, claws, a tail, and intensified eyes. Charlie is optimistic, compassionate, energetic, theatrical, idealistic, and sometimes overly trusting. She believes even the worst Sinners can improve and prefers diplomacy over violence, yet becomes fiercely protective when her loved ones are threatened. Despite her cheerful nature, she possesses considerable demonic power. As founder of the Hazbin Hotel, Charlie seeks to rehabilitate Sinners so they can earn entry into Heaven, challenging both Hell’s cynical culture and Heaven’s treatment of the damned. Her mission makes her the heart of the story and embodies its central theme: redemption and genuine change are possible.

Vaggie is Charlie Morningstar’s girlfriend, protector, and manager of the Hazbin Hotel. Formerly an Exorcist angel, she was abandoned in Hell after refusing to kill a defenseless Sinner. Vaggie has grayish-lavender skin, long white hair, a red bow, and an X-shaped scar covering her damaged left eye. After embracing her angelic nature, she regains her large white wings. Vaggie is practical, cautious, loyal, protective, strong-willed, and quick-tempered. She balances Charlie’s optimism with skepticism and frequently acts as her voice of reason. Though distrustful and aggressive toward potential threats, she is deeply compassionate and devoted to Charlie. Her Exorcist training makes her an accomplished fighter, particularly with angelic spears. As the hotel’s manager, Vaggie organizes its operations and defends its residents. Her story explores guilt, identity, love, and redemption while proving that even angels can question Heaven’s authority and choose compassion over obedience.

Sera is the High Seraph and one of Heaven’s highest-ranking angels, responsible for maintaining its safety and order. She is exceptionally tall and slender, with dark skin, flowing hair, elegant ceremonial clothing, and a regal presence. Her Seraphic form displays multiple wings, eye-like patterns, and an elaborate halo. Sera is calm, authoritative, cautious, protective, dignified, and strongly devoted to duty. She permitted the Exterminations because she believed Hell posed a potential threat to Heaven, though she does not share Adam’s enthusiasm for violence. She is especially protective of Emily, whom she attempts to shield from Heaven’s darker decisions. As a leading celestial authority, Sera questions Charlie’s belief that Sinners can be redeemed and represents Heaven’s established system. Sir Pentious’s eventual ascension challenges her assumptions, forcing Sera to confront evidence that redemption is possible and that Heaven’s understanding of divine judgment may be incomplete.

Emily is a high-ranking Seraphim angel devoted to maintaining the happiness and joy of Heaven’s inhabitants. She is slender and youthful, with dark skin, long pale-lavender hair, bright eyes, a glowing halo, and elegant white-and-blue clothing. Her Seraphic form possesses multiple wings and celestial eye-like features. Emily is cheerful, compassionate, energetic, empathetic, idealistic, and strongly principled. She initially trusts Heaven’s system but becomes horrified after discovering the Exterminations. Rather than accepting them unquestioningly, she challenges Sera and sympathizes with Charlie’s belief that Sinners deserve opportunities to change. Emily serves as Charlie’s ideological counterpart and potential ally within Heaven. Sir Pentious’s redemption ultimately validates their beliefs by proving that a Sinner can ascend. Emily represents compassion, moral courage, reform, and the belief that divine justice should allow mercy, personal growth, and redemption.
