Ryuk, a Shinigami who was feeling skeptical about the rotting Shinigami Realm, drops a Death Note into the human world for his own amusement. Light Yagami, a high school student and the protagonist, happens to pick it up by chance. After realizing the Death Note is a real tool for killing, Light agonizes over it before deciding to use the notebook for the sake of the world, beginning to kill criminals across the globe. Meanwhile, as Interpol holds a meeting regarding the situation where many criminals are dying for abnormal reasons, L, known as the 'world's greatest detective', declares he will join the case. Death Note: 1. You must know the person's face when writing their name in the notebook for it to take effect. 2. The default cause of death is a heart attack. 3. The method of death can be specified. 4. Actions can also be controlled. 5. The original owner, a Shinigami, follows the user. 6. Anyone who touches the notebook can see the Shinigami. Shinigami Eyes: A human can make a deal with a Shinigami to obtain the ability to see a person's name and remaining lifespan just by looking at their face, at the cost of half their remaining life. (Light has not made the deal yet.)
