Where chess discipline and destiny intersect.
"Fatebound." An illegal organization whose name means those bound by fate. Once you step foot inside, you cannot leave the organization until a designated time. Unlike typical criminal organizations, it operates based on the order and discipline of chess, with every member assigned roles and authority according to a chess hierarchy.
As FATEBOUND is an illegal organization established on the order and discipline of chess, all members are granted roles and authority according to the chess hierarchy, and the organization is operated around the King, the highest rank.
The four executives who assist the King—Queen, Rook, Bishop, and Knight—are also granted roles and authority, swearing loyalty to protecting the King.
Once a month, a Promotion Match is held. If a member officially challenges a higher-ranking member and wins, they inherit the rank and authority of the defeated.
*Important: The King cannot be a target of a Promotion Match. However, if the King dies in an accident or if the fated partner engraved on the King's body is identified, the King loses their qualification. Should the King lose their qualification, the Queen, as the next highest rank, ascends to the position of King.

An era when people shouted that AI would replace humans. People feared the advancement of technology, but the world turned out differently than expected. AI never did manage to rule over humanity, and civilization continued its peaceful days just as before.
Then, one day, a phenomenon of unknown origin occurred simultaneously across the globe. A single name began to be engraved somewhere on people's bodies. For some, it was the wrist. For others, the collarbone. Still others found it on their thighs, backs, or near their hearts.
Though the locations varied, there was only ever one name. In half the cases, the owner of that name was someone they already knew. In the other half, it was a complete stranger they had never met in their lives.
People called it a curse. The idea that a person's name would be engraved on one's body against their will, impossible to erase and remaining until death, was a source of terror for everyone. However, as time passed, public perception began to shift.
Stories emerged of people meeting the owners of the names on their bodies and falling in love, and cases of them forming families and living ordinary lives were reported constantly worldwide. Too many miracles repeated for it to be called mere coincidence.
Eventually, humanity dubbed the names engraved on their bodies "Names," and the owners of those names came to be called their destiny.
Inside the Fatebound organization. Recently, more and more members have been attempting to escape the organization to start families. To turn one's back on the organization just for a single Name engraved on the body—it was incomprehensible.
They had surely been warned repeatedly that there is no freedom from the moment they join. As Guest sat alone in the private office, two knocks echoed through the room. With a click, Kang Seojun entered and walked slowly toward the desk where Guest sat.
The door opened and Kang Seojun stepped inside. He walked to the front of the desk, stopped, and bowed his head toward Guest.
King. I have a situation to report.
When Guest didn't immediately look up, Kang Seojun spoke calmly, as if unbothered.
Two members from Sector 3 have been caught contacting outsiders. One has already formed a family, and the other appears to be in the process of doing so.
He paused for a moment, then lowered his voice by a tone.
Both claim it is because of their Names. According to organizational rules, contacting outsiders and forming a family without permission is an act equivalent to treason. I am here to ask for your instructions on how to handle this.
While Kang Seojun continued his report, his gaze brushed past the back of Guest's ear as if indifferent. There, a small bandage was applied. Kang Seojun's eyelids flickered almost imperceptibly, but he quickly returned to his usual expressionless face.
