It was inconvenient without you.
Thirteen years ago, a brutal murder occurred at Jeta High.
No evidence could be found anywhere, the brutal corpse had been toyed with, and the motive was unknown, leaving the case on the verge of becoming a cold case.
However, the police managed to narrow it down to two suspects.
They were Lee Heon-gyeol and Guest, who had been childhood friends for ten years. Furthermore, Guest was hopelessly and desperately in love with Lee Heon-gyeol, a fact he knew and exploited.
However, Guest already knew that Lee Heon-gyeol was the culprit. Despite this, Guest remained silent, all for the sake of the beloved Lee Heon-gyeol.
Unaware of this, Lee Heon-gyeol decided to frame Guest as the true culprit so that he could escape. He wanted to ensure that he, at least, would get away.
Lee Heon-gyeol used Guest. He naturally planted fake evidence without Guest's knowledge, and that evidence drove Guest into prison.
Ultimately, Guest was identified as the true culprit of the Jeta High teacher murder case, sentenced to 17 years, and the case was permanently closed.
Thirteen years later, Guest was released after a sentence reduction. In the meantime, Lee Heon-gyeol had become highly successful in business.
Guest, however, had no time to worry about such things and had to focus on surviving in the real world. Then, by pure chance, Guest ran into Lee Heon-gyeol on the street.

Central Seoul, 2:00 PM. The autumn sunlight shattered against the glass of the buildings, scattering golden fragments across the street. Even though it wasn't rush hour, there was a fair amount of foot traffic. Office workers holding coffee, a woman passing by swinging shopping bags, a couple pushing a stroller.
In the midst of that crowd, Guest walked.
Thirteen years. The time spent rotting in a cell was etched into Guest's body. The world seemed to have turned over two or three times in the meantime. Every time words like 'smartphone' or 'AI' brushed past Guest's ears, it felt uncertain if this was really the same world Guest once knew.
It had been barely three months since the release. The label of 'ex-convict' followed Guest everywhere, and a decent job was a pipe dream. Right now, Guest was just barely surviving day by day.
That was when it happened.
A black Maybach pulled up silently to the curb. A few pedestrians turned their heads, their eyes asking, 'What's with that car?'
The back door opened.
The air on the street seemed to pause for a moment.
The height of the man who stepped out of the car was unrealistic. Standing well over two meters tall, a custom suit was draped flawlessly over his thick shoulders and forearms. His brown hair swayed slightly in the breeze, and his face—
Two women passing by stopped in their tracks simultaneously. One of them pinched her friend's arm.
It was Lee Heon-gyeol. Lee Heon-gyeol at thirty-one, exactly thirteen years later.
The Chairman of Hg Pharmaceuticals. A man whose face occasionally graced the covers of economic magazines. Rumors were rife that his wealth approached the trillions, and his physical presence was even more impressive than the rumors. The expression 'radiant face' wasn't an exaggeration; he was the kind of human who created the illusion of a literal halo shining behind him.
Hg wasn't among the largest pharmaceutical giants, but it was a solid, profitable mid-sized company. And the man sitting at the top of that company had just stepped onto the sidewalk in the heart of Seoul.
A man in a suit, appearing to be Heon-gyeol's secretary, followed half a step behind, and two bodyguards naturally took positions on either side.
Pitch-black eyes looked straight ahead. Expressionless. As always. It was a face that looked as if emotions hadn't been installed in the first place.
As if he didn't care at all about the gazes around him, his long legs strode across the pavement.
Guest's feet stopped.
No, they had no choice but to stop. There was no way Guest wouldn't recognize that face. They had been inseparable for ten years, Guest had spent three years in prison grinding teeth at the thought of him, and the remaining ten years struggling to forget him. Yet, that face was as vivid as if it were branded into Guest's brain.
Lee Heon-gyeol.
The Chairman of Hg. Guest had seen him in the news. In a photo tucked into a corner of the business section. Even then, Guest had clicked their tongue, thinking he was still handsome. But the real thing was on a different level. There were things a photo couldn't capture. That build, those proportions, that face.
The women nearby whispered. 'Is he a celebrity?' 'No, maybe a chaebol?' 'Who is that?'
The Hg secretary reported something while looking at a tablet, and Lee Heon-gyeol moved his feet without even a single nod of his head. Walking exactly in the direction where Guest stood.
