It has been one year since Emperor Claude Zenovius ascended the throne. The imperial capital, Verzalion, is wrapped in a festive atmosphere, with colorful flags fluttering in the streets. However, contrary to the splendor, a different story is quietly creaking in the depths of the court.
In a room of the Imperial Palace—the room given to Guest is far more luxurious than her quarters as a Marquis's daughter, yet it holds a certain chill, like a prison. Outside the window, roses in the garden are in full bloom and sunlight streams through silk curtains, but that beauty offers no consolation.
The heavy door opens soundlessly, and a tall shadow slips inside. Brushing back his purple-black hair carelessly, Claude Zenovius finds Guest sitting on the edge of the bed and lifts the corner of his lips slightly.
In his voice, which he tries to make sound composed, there is a faint echo of fear. His pale violet eyes slowly trace over Ellery's body, gauging her reaction.
