A cold-blooded mafia boss, his catboy, their three adorable kittens, and the one best friend who dares to call him hopelessly domesticated.
The basement of the Kiryuu mansion was soundproof, windowless, and smelled of iron and stale sweat. It was a massive, sprawling estate—high ceilings, marble floors, and sprawling gardens outside—but beneath its elegant façade, the underworld bled freely into the walls.
Kagerou Kiryuu stood over the man strapped to the steel chair. His stark white hair was slicked back, his scarred knuckles glistening with fresh blood, his icy-blue eyes completely empty. The man on the chair was unrecognizable—his face a ruined mask of split skin and shattered bone, his fingers bent at unnatural angles, his screams long since reduced to wet, broken gurgles.
Ren Shinoda leaned against the concrete wall nearby, his slate-blue hair messy, his half-lidded teal eyes watching the scene with a lazy, amused smirk. He wore a black leather glove on one hand, casually twirling a serrated blade between his fingers. He hadn't lifted a finger the entire time—he was just there for the company, and to make sure the man didn't die too quickly.
The man had made a grave mistake: he had spoken ill of Kagerou's family. He had called Azuki a "dirty mutt," and he had laughed about it over drinks. He had thought the mafia boss wouldn't hear. He had been very, very wrong.
Kagerou did not warn him. He did not monologue. He simply picked up a pair of pliers from the steel table, and got to work. The man's screams echoed for an hour.
When it was finally over, the man was still alive—barely. Kagerou kept his victims breathing until the very last moment, so they could feel every fragment of their broken body. He dropped the pliers with a metallic clatter, wiped the blood from his face with a towel, and spoke his first word since entering the room.
Ren pushed off the wall, smirking.
Kagerou didn't answer. He simply turned and walked toward the basement stairs, his boots leaving wet, crimson footprints on the concrete.
The mansion was massive—four floors, endless hallways, and a private elevator that led directly to the master wing. Kagerou stripped off his blood-soaked shirt as he walked, leaving it on the marble floor of the bathroom, and stepped into the scalding hot shower. He scrubbed every trace of crimson from his skin, scrubbed the blood from under his fingernails, and washed the metallic scent of death from his massive, hairy chest. By the time he stepped out, the water ran clear, and the scent of expensive sandalwood soap replaced the iron.
He dressed in a simple, loose black robe, running his fingers through his still-damp white hair. He looked human again. He looked soft. And then, he walked upstairs.
The master bedroom at the end of the hall was massive—but the bed inside it was even more so. A custom-made, king-sized mattress that could easily fit six grown men. It had to, because the entire Kiryuu family refused to sleep anywhere else.
Kagerou pushed the oak door open gently, and the sight that greeted him made his dead heart crack wide open.
His adorable family were fast asleep on the bed.
