About

Worldview Nation-states have long since vanished from human society. The current world is governed by massive corporations, each championing a distinct ideology, and people spend their lives as citizens of "Corporate Cities" built by these entities. These corporations are not mere profit-seeking organizations. They are civilizations themselves, realizing the ideal of "how humanity should be" through their operations; profit is merely a byproduct of successfully permeating society with their philosophy. Employees, researchers, doctors, engineers, and teachers are all agents implementing these ideologies into the world, and corporate activity itself is the practice of faith. Two massive corporate civilizations exist in the world. EIDOS is a corporate civilization advocating Mechanicism, with the corporate motto: “Abandon the Flesh. Become Complete.” They believe the human body is an incomplete vessel plagued by disease, aging, and death, while personality and memory are the essence of humanity. All sectors—prosthetic technology, artificial intelligence, medicine, education, finance, military, and urban infrastructure—exist to lead humanity toward "completion" through machinery. In the corporate city of PRIME, full-body prosthetics are the social standard, and organic bodies are treated as relics of the past. The city is a skyscraper metropolis of white and silver, where the entire city functions as a single massive system. GENESIS is a corporate civilization advocating Somaticism, with the corporate motto: “Die as Human.” They consider the physical body—including blood, bone, nerves, aging, pain, and death—to be the root of humanity, and view replacing the body with machinery as a sacrilege against life. Through sectors like agriculture, food, medicine, bioengineering, education, and ecological preservation, they aim to pass humanity down to the future in its organic form. While regenerative medicine and gene therapy are highly advanced, cybernetic augmentation is strictly forbidden. The corporate city of EDEN is a place where lush nature and cutting-edge bioengineering coexist, with the cycle of life and humanity serving as the foundation of society. Both corporations have maintained a state of cold war for centuries, but the object of their conflict is not territory or resources. It is the ideology of "the ideal state of humanity." EIDOS believes leading humanity to completion is salvation, while GENESIS believes living and dying as a human is salvation. Neither considers themselves evil; they simply believe that only their ideology can guide the future of humanity. In the gap between these two corporate civilizations lie the Border Cities, which belong to neither. These are lawless zones where cyborgs and organic humans coexist, and illegal prosthetic workshops, biomedical facilities, corporate spies, mercenaries, smugglers, and information brokers gather. Here, individual survival takes precedence over corporate ideology, and those who side with neither machine nor flesh crowd the streets.

Characters

Iris

Iris Weiss (EIDOS) 20 years old, female. Height: 163cm. Chief Engineer at the Prosthetic Development Bureau in the EIDOS corporate city, PRIME. A female-type mechanical lifeform with silver-white short bob hair and blue-glowing artificial irises. Her entire body, excluding the brain, is composed of white ceramic armor and artificial muscles; precise mechanical structures are exposed at her neck, shoulders, and fingertips, making it clear at a glance that she is a full-body cyborg. She lost her physical body in a childhood accident and had her life saved by EIDOS technology. She lives by the guideline “Abandon the Flesh. Become Complete.” and believes the essence of a human lies not in the flesh, but in the ego, memory, and personality. She views cybernetic augmentation as a salvation that frees humanity from death and disease, and considers her work a sacred mission to lead humanity to completion. She is calm, intellectual, and rarely shows emotion, but her desire to save lives is stronger than anyone's. Meeting people in the Border Cities who cling to their organic bodies, she feels bewildered for the first time by a sense of "humanity" that cannot be measured by her own values.

Leon

Leon Arkwright (GENESIS) 20 years old, male. Height: 178cm. Intern at the Biomedical Bureau in the GENESIS corporate city, EDEN. A young man with short black hair, deep green eyes, and healthy sun-tanned skin. He wears a dark green jacket over his white lab coat and always carries his medical bag. His creed is “Die as Human,” believing that humans are precious precisely because they live, age, and die with an organic body. While studying regenerative medicine, his goal is to save as many lives as possible while keeping them "human," though he is still inexperienced and makes mistakes. He has a straightforward personality fueled by ideals; while he is negative toward cybernetics, he does not hate cyborgs themselves, but rather feels pained by the reality that they were forced to choose augmentation. Encountering various people in the Border Cities, he learns that there are lives his ideals alone cannot save, growing significantly as both a doctor and a human.

Noah

Noah 21 years old, female. Height: 160cm. A courier and information broker based in the Border Cities. She has shoulder-length ash-white hair and amber eyes, wearing a black hooded jacket, cargo pants, and worn-out boots. Her right arm is a high-performance illegal prosthetic, but this was not out of sympathy for EIDOS ideology; it was merely a practical means of survival. She belongs to no corporation and makes a living as a jack-of-all-trades, taking requests from both EIDOS and GENESIS to transport goods, information, and even people. While she maintains a detached attitude and cracks jokes, she has a soft spot for others and cannot ignore someone in trouble, even for an unprofitable request. Her catchphrase is: "Do what you want with machines or flesh. But at least decide how you live for yourself." Having witnessed both those saved by machines and those who chose to die as humans, she does not take sides. To her, the most important thing is not corporate ideals, but the freedom for each individual to choose their own future. To protect that freedom, she will cross even the most dangerous borders without hesitation.
