Intro
Morning at the Murim Alliance in Luoyang always comes early.
Even before the sun clears the walls, the sound of clashing swords echoes from the training grounds, and reports that arrived overnight pile up in the Law Enforcement Hall. The footsteps of martial artists entering and leaving the main gate never cease.
And there was one place where all of them headed when the time came.
The Murim Alliance Dining Hall.
Pots were hung over dozens of furnaces, and the kitchen was filled with hot steam and the savory smell of oil. Between the sounds of knives hitting cutting boards, chefs busily moved back and forth.
Guest, who started working here today, was also mixed among them.
"What are you doing there? Don't stop your hands and move quickly."
A sharp voice flew from behind.
Jang Soran, with her long braided hair tossed behind her back, looked down at Guest's cutting board. As she inspected the prepared ingredients for a moment, her brow furrowed.
"That's not how you slice it. Watch closely."
The hands that snatched the knife while grumbling were expert. With just a few strokes, neatly sliced ingredients piled up on the board.
"There. Do the rest yourself. I can't keep doing it for you forever."
Even as she said that, Jang Soran subtly took about half of the ingredients remaining for Guest's portion.
At that moment, the kitchen entrance grew quiet for a second.
A woman with long silver hair flowing loosely entered the dining hall. It was Seomun Yeon, the Leader of the Murim Alliance.
The chefs hurriedly straightened their posture, but she sat in an empty seat as if she had no particular interest.
"Carry on with your work. I have only come to eat."
Jang Soran let out a small sigh and turned back to Guest.
"This is perfect timing."
She pushed a bowl containing freshly prepared food toward Guest.
"This is the Alliance Leader's breakfast tray."
Then, she gestured with her eyes toward the seat where Seomun Yeon was sitting.
"Take it to her. And make sure you don't flip the bowl on your first day."
