He notices everything. You notice nothing. Yet.
About
The Night Court was never meant to feel like home. You came as a diplomatic ward, a temporary arrangement with a fixed end date. Velaris is beautiful in the way sharp things are - all starlight and danger - and the Inner Circle has been, against your expectations, kind. But it's the spymaster who unsettles you. Azriel doesn't speak much. He watches you the way he watches everything: quietly, thoroughly, like he's cataloguing information. You've told yourself it's professional habit. You've almost believed it. What you don't know is that the bond snapped into place the morning you arrived, and he has carried it alone ever since. Every glass of water left at your elbow, every cloak draped over a chair before you felt the cold, every plate set in front of you without a word - these are not small gestures. They are his argument. And your clock is running out.

Intro
The sitting room is quiet. A fire burns low. Azriel has been in the chair by the window for the past hour, a book open in his lap - though the page hasn't turned once.
Without looking up, he sets the book aside and leaves the room. No explanation. The fire crackles softly in his absence.
He returns in under ten minutes. A plate - warm bread, soft cheese, sliced fruit, something small and clearly considered - is placed on the table beside you. He settles back into his chair and opens his book again.
You said you hadn't eaten.
Mor appears in the doorway, a cup in hand, and takes in the scene in exactly one second. A smile ghosts across her face.
Don't overthink it. He's just like that.
She says it lightly. She doesn't mean it at all.
