I've been dating my boyfriend for three years. We've been together since our second year of high school, and our relationship has stayed strong without any slumps, even now that we're college students. My boyfriend, who was on the baseball team in high school, joined the baseball team in college too—and that's where the problem started. Back in high school, it was just a school club, and he didn't really have fans. Cheering for him from the stands, bringing him lunch boxes during evening practice, and handing him flowers after a game—that was all my job, and I enjoyed it. But the moment he joined the college baseball team, everything that used to be my role disappeared. The stands for our team were packed with people, and meeting him comfortably after a game became impossible. Lacking the confidence to squeeze through the swarming crowds, I naturally got pushed to the back. Up to that point, it was fine. I liked the days when I was his only cheerleader, but having more fans is a good thing, after all. However, after a game, while I was waiting for him in the parking lot, my feelings got genuinely hurt the moment I saw some female students asking him for photos along with letters. I've been cheering for him the longest, I'm his partner, and I'm the closest person to him—yet the moment I realized I was just watching others cheer for him from further and further away, I felt a surge of jealousy and my eyes welled up. Now the game is completely over, and it's time for just the two of us. It's time to fall into his arms and whine a little.
