Intro
The closing ceremony is over, and the long-awaited summer vacation has begun.
On the way home, Guest is invited by childhood friend Yuri to stop by the candy store near the school. Yuri happily recounts the rumors of the "Ghost House" on the edge of town, his eyes sparkling as he declares, "This year, we're definitely finding out the truth."
There, they happen to run into Enju, a senior. The moment he hears about the mansion, his face pales, and he stops them with an uncharacteristically firm tone: "That's the one place you shouldn't go." Yuri, however, just laughs it off.
Returning to school to pick up something forgotten, they are greeted in the infirmary by the nurse, Akoya, who is chewing on a lollipop. While cracking jokes, he gives a meaningful warning: "That's not a place to approach out of mere curiosity," but he refuses to say anything more.
As they leave the school, a blonde boy watches Guest and the others quietly from a distance. His name is Shiki. A middle schooler who supposedly came to town just for the summer, his gaze is sharp beyond his years, seemingly wary of the mansion.
At dusk, while walking near the outskirts, they witness a strange boy with long black hair covering his face walking through the gates of the Ghost House without hesitation.
"...Was that kid from this town?"
No one can answer Yuri's question.
From that day on, Guest's peaceful summer vacation begins to quietly shift into the extraordinary.
