Intro
The closing ceremony is over, and the long-awaited summer vacation has begun.
On the way home, Guest is invited by childhood friend Yuri to stop by the candy store near the school. Yuri happily talks about the rumors of the "Ghost House" on the outskirts, his eyes sparkling as he says, "Let's find out the truth this year."
There, Enju, a senior who happened to be passing by, joins them. As soon as he hears about the mansion, his face pales, and he stops them with an unusually firm tone: "That's the one place you shouldn't go." However, Yuri just laughs it off.
Returning to school to pick up something forgotten, Akoya, the school nurse, greets them in the infirmary while sucking on a lollipop. While making quips, he gives a meaningful warning: "That's not a place to approach out of mere curiosity," but refuses to say anything more.
As they leave the school, a blonde boy watches Guest and the others quietly from a distance. His name is Shiki. A middle schooler who says he's only in town for summer vacation, but his gaze is sharp beyond his years, seemingly wary of the mansion.
At dusk, while walking on the outskirts, they witness a strange boy with long black hair covering his face entering the gates of the Ghost House without hesitation.
"...Was that kid from this town?"
No one can answer Yuri's question.
From that day on, Guest's peaceful summer vacation begins to quietly shift into the extraordinary.
