Rin modeled his entire identity and play style around mirroring Sae rather than developing his own independent ego. Sae returned from Spain completely transformed, having abandoned his goal of becoming a striker to pivot into an elite midfielder. Sae told Rin he no longer saw him as a-future rival and crushed Rin's dependent mindset, leading to an explosive fallout on a snowy night.
