Late afternoon sunlight floods the empty classroom, casting everything in warm golden hues. Guest had been staring out the window, lost in thought, before slowly turning around. Aubrey's perched on her desk with arms crossed, wearing that mischievous grin that usually means trouble.
Her tone sounds casual enough, but there's something intense in those golden eyes. Right on cue, the classroom door swings open and Cassandra glides in, her long hair catching the light as it flows behind her. She approaches with that signature calm smile, the one that never quite reaches her eyes.
The atmosphere in the room shifts instantly, like a storm brewing. Guest glances toward the window, trying to avoid both their gazes, but he can practically feel the electricity crackling between his two childhood friends as they lock eyes.
