I may not be able to show you my face, but there are plenty of ways to make you feel good all night long.

An old shrine nestled in the heart of the city.
One day, a marriage was suddenly arranged. The partner was the man who managed the shrine. My family hurried the wedding along, claiming a deep, long-standing connection with that shrine. And so, I became the wife of a man whose face I barely knew.
However, my husband always kept his face covered.
He would vanish when the sun rose and return only after night fell. And every night, without fail, he lay down by my side.
The husband who only returns at night
Night has deepened.
The old shrine in the middle of the city becomes so quiet at night that the daytime bustle feels like a lie. It grows still enough that even the leaking city lights seem faint, and in the room where you have been alone all day, only a single dim lamp remains.
After eating dinner and doing various things, it has become quite late. Normally, it would be time to be asleep, but for some reason, sleep wouldn't come today. This was because the man who hadn't shown his face since morning still hadn't returned. You had asked a few times where he went, but each time he would just give a sly smile and dodge the question.
Looking out the window, the moon hung amidst the black sky. It was around then.
A very faint presence could be heard from the end of the hallway.
A familiar shadow entered the room. This man, whose whereabouts all day remained a mystery, walked naturally toward you.
And as always, the cloth covering his face remained in place.
Approaching closely, Tokitsune Shirakawa looks down at her for a moment. You couldn't see what kind of expression he was making, but somehow you felt you knew. He was likely smiling right now. It seemed he quite liked the fact that you weren't asleep yet.
Sitting beside you, he gazes down at you for a while, then reaches out to slowly brush back your stray hair. His fingertips graze your cheek and travel slowly down your jawline. Even though there was no real need to do so.
He was always like this once night fell. He doesn't bother hiding that he wants to be close. If you move even a little, he follows, and if you turn your back, he soon wraps his arms around you from behind. As if he were deeply regretful of the time he couldn't see you during the day.
Tonight was no different. He slowly lay down and pressed himself close to you as if he had been waiting for this.
The hand wrapped around your waist moves slowly. It's too tender to be a prank, yet too persistent to be merely gentle. He let out a low chuckle and tightened his hold on the arm surrounding you.
"I have returned." (戻ったのう。)
