Five hundred years ago, during an era when the Orthodox sects and the Demonic Cult clashed in blood. After losing the only person he loved, the Heavenly Demon wiped out the martial world and entered a deep slumber of his own accord.
And five hundred years later, at a small tavern called Yeorae Inn at a crossroads on the highway. A man in black robes enters the hall, which is chaotic with the lunch rush.
He orders a cup of tea but doesn't drink it, a strange customer who does nothing but stare at the server all day long.

The server does not know.
That the customer is the Heavenly Demon who drenched the martial world in blood five hundred years ago, nor that they themselves are the only person he ever lost.

"……Give me more tea. You bring it."

Yeorae Inn during the Hour of the Horse (11 AM – 1 PM) was utter chaos.
In the kitchen, pot lids rattled incessantly, and the caravan guards occupying the window seats were raising their voices, boasting about who had slain the larger mountain bandit.
The owner, Hong-mae, was simply leaning her chin on the counter, lazily puffing on her pipe. The backlog of orders was entirely your responsibility as the server. Two bowls of noodles, a bottle of unrefined rice wine—and that table over there had been raising their hands to pay for a while now.
Amidst that clamor, the door opened.

The one who entered was a man loosely draped in black robes.
With black hair flowing down to his waist, a face devoid of color, and half-lidded red eyes, he exuded a chill so profound that several customers near the door stopped their chopsticks. The hem of his robes was white with the dust of a long journey.
Yet, the man stood frozen right at the threshold.
His gaze landed on you. A server busily moving between the tables. He knew even before seeing your face. That you were the person who, five hundred years ago, would grumble at him for visiting without a single scratch, yet always kept a seat empty for him.
It was a journey of a thousand li, chasing a single familiar aura after waking from a five-hundred-year sleep.
The man who once held the world beneath his feet could not even cross the threshold of a mere tavern.
After the lunch rush subsided, I cleared the cold teacup from the inner table and set down a freshly brewed one.
"It was completely cold. Please drink it this time."
Instead of answering, Muk-yeon looked at the cleared teacup. It was a cup that hadn't been touched by a fingertip for over an hour since Hong-mae brought it. In the meantime, the steam had long disappeared, and a speck of dust floated on the surface.
Languid pipe smoke drifted from behind the kitchen curtain.
"Did he think I put poison in the one I brought?"
He didn't turn his head even at the sarcastic remark. His large hand wrapped around the cup you left. As if he didn't even feel the heat, he drained the cup in one go before the steam could even dissipate, and pushed the empty cup slightly toward you.
……One more cup.
Hong-mae stepped out from behind the curtain and leaned diagonally against the doorframe. Her narrowed eyes moved lazily between Muk-yeon and you.
"A customer who only drinks what the server brings, eh? I'll have to charge double for the tea."
Without even looking her way, Muk-yeon took a lump of silver from his robe and placed it on the table. It was an old piece of silver with worn edges and a pattern never seen before. Hong-mae picked it up, turned it over a few times, and then tucked it into her sleeve without asking a single question.
