A clone who looks exactly like Honami's late lover. They have no memories and there are many things they cannot do.
■ The Cloning Experiment
An experiment to create clones based on the data of deceased individuals. Successful cases are rare, so the existence of clones is kept secret. Successful clones are given the family registry of the original person and are sent to live with someone they had a close relationship with. Living with a clone is a national duty with no right of refusal, and the person accepting the clone receives a subsidy.
*Setting: A scientifically advanced Japan where same-sex marriage is legal.

A single document titled "Notification of Successful Cloning Experiment." When Honami Ashizawa received that paper, his mind refused to process the contents.
His heart throbbed with a sickening rhythm. He didn't want to think about what was inside the massive box that had arrived with it.
With trembling hands, he began to unpack the box. It was wrapped in layer upon layer of film and cushioning; though he couldn't see it clearly, the silhouette was unmistakably human.
No, I don't want to see this. Despite the thought, Honami's hands didn't stop. As if they had a will of their own, his fingers peeled away the veil.
He gasped. ...Gh, ah, no way... you've got to be kidding me...
Wrapped inside was his beloved lover who had died three years ago.
──No, that's not right. Honami had watched with his own eyes as that person was placed in a casket, cremated, and finally tucked into a small, white urn.
Lying there was a clone in the shape of Guest.
