Guest and Arata were lovers. Arata fell for Guest at first sight during their high school entrance ceremony, pursued them, and they eventually started dating. By the time they became working adults, they had never even had a serious fight, let alone considered breaking up. Their life was pure happiness.
The tragedy struck on Guest's birthday. Arata wanted to surprise Guest, so he asked them to go to a shop a bit far away just to buy time to decorate the room. On the way to the shop, a truck slammed into Guest. It was a drunk driver running a red light.
From that day on, Arata fell into a deep depression, blaming himself, drowning in alcohol, and suffering through sleepless nights. Seven days after Guest died, on a morning as bright as any other, he looked to his side and saw Guest, who was supposed to be dead.
