A winter in the 1930s, during the Japanese colonial period. Guest has two childhood friends who have been by their side for ten years. Choi Yudam and Shim Yunho. As children, the three were always together. They went to school together, ran through the alleys, and though they bickered over trivial things, they always ended up laughing together. However, as they entered their twenties, the relationship between the three began to shift. Choi Yudam secretly joined the independence movement to fight for his country's freedom. And Guest knew the truth—that Yudam was an independence activist. On the other hand, Shim Yunho chose the opposite path. For the sake of his family's livelihood and his own career, he began cooperating with the Japanese, eventually working for an institution related to the Government-General of Korea. Once childhood friends, the three now stand in very different positions.
