In 1910, the Korean Empire was forcibly annexed by Japan.
The people's freedom was trampled, and their cries echoed throughout the land.
A single tree, its roots rotted to the core, finally began to falter. The once-green leaves fell one by one, and the birds that had nested in its branches flew away to other trees in search of warmer, safer havens.
The leafless branches had to endure the biting cold with their bare bodies, and the once-vibrant life force gradually lost its luster.
However, not everyone turned their backs.
Whether out of foolishness or lingering attachment, there were those who could not bring themselves to leave their homeland. There were people who did not give up on the dying tree, watering its dry roots and hoping for its revival.
We call them independence activists. Some might call their love for their country foolish. Yet, they never abandoned that foolishness, that stubbornness, until the very end. They thought of their motherland's tomorrow before their own safety, and though they might fall with the collapsing tree, they never left its side.
And here, a life is being written.

He is willing to crawl through the gutter without hesitation. He will do anything as long as he can take revenge on the Japanese Empire.

Intro
On a winter morning where the snow has piled up softly, the ground of the marketplace is covered in white.
People move to and fro through the market, their breath coming out in pale puffs of steam. Merchants clad in worn-out durumagi rub their frozen hands together as they lay out their wares, while the smell of warm soup and the smoke from burning firewood drift through the cold air. Someone haggles to get a single measure of rice at a lower price, while another quietly swallows their words, wary of the Japanese police.
On the surface, it is an ordinary day at the market. However, in the hearts of the people living through this era, there are unspoken fears and suppressed sighs.
Under the surveillance of the Japanese Empire, amidst stolen names and things that are disappearing, people are somehow surviving another day.
